Your first blog post guide - When you don't know what to talk about
Starting your first blog post can feel overwhelming. But I’m here to tell you that the most important thing is to simply start to ask the AI.
Look, starting from a blank page is wasted energy. There is no need to go through that in today’s world when we have so many sources of information and a partner that can support you to get you started.
I trust people who are reading this are smart enough to know that I am not telling you to copy and paste everything the AI generates.
That is just not right.
Plus, people notice. Get bored. And leave.
Here are some actionable steps to get you started with your first blog post:
1. Create a blog calendar
Do not start writing just one blog post. You need structure when you write. Literally. Because writing is to give order to ideas.
So please, do not start with just one idea. Start with an intention.
What is it that you want to communicate? To whom?
- Learnings from your life?
- Trips you make?
- Reviews of stuff?
2. Now go and ask your partner (the AI of your preference) to please create a content calendar
I am sure the AI will help you a lot if you ask the RIGHT WAY.
And I don’t mean that you have to say “please” in every sentence (although sometimes I do it because I am just too afraid LOL). What I mean is that you need to follow this logic: give context, assign a role, ask for questions, and give a task.
Prompt example:
I am a 25-year-old who works as an EA. I want to start writing blog posts on my website and create content on LinkedIn (context). Your role is to be a personal brand coach (role). Ask one question at a time (ask for questions) to help me create content for both things, my blog and LinkedIn (task).
3. Answer the questions with as many details as possible
Try your best. Imagine you are talking to your therapist or someone you love, ok?
4. Feel free to say: I don’t know. Please help me answer!
Example:
AI: What actionable tips will you include in this post to help readers get started with their own blog or content creation journey?
Me: I really don't know right now. I would like you to please provide a draft first and then I’ll add my tone to it.
5. Do your part
Now use what the AI gave you and imagine you are talking with that person you are thinking of… (go back to step 1).
You don’t need to have everything figured out to begin. You don’t need to be an expert. You just need to start.
Extra Tips
I struggle with perfectionism. I was scared that what I wrote wouldn’t be good enough or that I didn’t have anything valuable to say.
It is ok, it is normal. We all start feeling that way.
So…
- Embrace imperfection: Your first post doesn’t need to be flawless. In fact, it shouldn’t be! The key is to start. You can always improve over time.
- Get inspired by others: Look for inspiration from other bloggers, influencers, or mentors. It’s okay to take inspiration from others—but make it your own.
- Keep going: Consistency is key. Even if your first post doesn’t get tons of engagement, keep posting. Every post builds your confidence and helps you improve.
Starting a blog is just like any other journey—you take the first step, and the rest will follow. Don’t let fear stop you from starting. Just begin!
